Community Support
Getting out should feel enjoyable, not overwhelming.
Community Support is all about making everyday life more enjoyable, more connected, and more doable. Whether it’s heading out for a coffee, visiting the library, trying something new, or just getting some fresh air, support should help you feel confident and comfortable doing what matters most.
This kind of support is often the first step for families looking to help a loved one get more involved outside the home. It can be social, practical, or both. And it should always feel like it fits your needs.
What Community Support can look like with 4u Care:
Visiting your favourite café or trying a new one
Going to the gym, footy, or the local art class
Running errands together
Building routines outside the house
Catching up with friends or joining a group
Support is tailored to each person’s needs and interests. It might be a quiet walk with one support worker, or a fun outing with a small group. You decide what works best, and we make it happen.
Support Ratios That Work for You
Getting out and about should feel good, not full on. Choosing the right support ratio helps make sure every community outing feels safe, enjoyable, and tailored to the person taking part. We take time to match people thoughtfully, making sure everyone feels relaxed and supported. And if things ever need to change, we adjust the ratio to keep the experience right for the person.
1:1 Support
For some people, having one support worker by their side makes all the difference. This option gives full focus to one person, which can be ideal if someone needs extra help navigating busy places, is still building confidence in social settings, or simply prefers doing things one-on-one.
1:2 Support
Some people love sharing their day with others. Whether it’s a group trip to the movies, a walk along the foreshore, or a lunch outing with mates, shared support offers the chance to connect and enjoy activities together. It’s a great option when participants have similar interests and are comfortable in a group setting.
What Families Appreciate Most About Community Support with 4u Care
Support workers who show up, know your loved one, and stick around
A consistent routine that helps life run more smoothly
Thoughtful, unhurried support tailored to real needs
Clear communication and flexibility when things change
At 4u Care, we offer a lot of services at the 1:1 ratio: one support worker focused entirely on one person. But when someone needs a bit more help, whether that’s for physical needs, medical conditions, or behaviours, we can step it up to 2:1 support.
That just means two members working together to make sure the person gets the right level of care, safely and consistently.
We support families across Newcastle, Maitland, Port Stephens, Lake Macquarie, and the Central Coast and every van in our fleet is wheelchair accessible.
